MAY 1    TOWN BIRTHDAY PARTY
Beech is turning 32! To celebrate, join us at the Buckeye Recreation Center for a pot luck and birthday cake. Beech Mountain also celebrates Arbor Day, as an official Tree City USA town.

MAY 17     BEECH MOUNTAIN METRIC
The Beech Mountain Metric (“the Beetch”) is a classic mountain metric century that finishes at the top of Beech Mountain, famed climb of past Tour DuPont rides. The first annual ride will be held May 17, 2014. With 8600 ft of climbing, The Beech Mountain Metric is a true test for the strongest of riders.

There are plenty of lodging options right next to the finish line, from hotels to homes. Check out the following discounts available the weekends of May 3rd, May 17th, and June 28th for Beech Mountain Metric and BSG riders at www.beechmtn.com/beechmountainmetric
JUNE 14   COMMUNITY YARD SALE
Every year, Beech Mountain Residents empty their closets and garages for our annual yard sale. With over 20 different vendors all in one spot, you're sure to find that treasured item you are looking for. The yard sale will take place in the meadows across from Town Hall, behind the Brick Oven Pizzeria.

JUNE 21    A COOL 5 RACE
An annual race started in 2006, the Cool 5 Race is a fundraising effort for differing community projects. Fundraising efforts have funded the Lake Coffey handicapped fishing pier, Fireman's Park, and other parks and trail efforts through out Beech Mountain.

Including categories for the more serious athletes as well as those that just want to get out and participate. Registration will begin soon, check www.beechrecreation.org for details.
JUNE 23    90TH ANNUAL SINGING ON THE MOUNTAIN
Thousands gather annually for this all-day outdoor gospel sing and fellowship featuring a sermon from evangelist Leighton Ford. Music from top gospel groups begins at 8:30 a.m., and many families bring lawn chairs and picnics to enjoy the event. Camping (without RV hookups) is available on the field on a first come, first served basis. The event is free according to the longstanding motto: "Whosoever will may come."
JULY 10 - 13    59TH ANNUAL GRANDFATHER MOUNTAIN HIGHLAND GAMES
Brawny athletes, delicate dancers, noisy bagpipe band parades, rocking Celtic music and a spectacular highland setting makes this colorful celebration of Scottish culture the best highland games in America. Camping is available on a first come, first served basis. Admission charged.
JULY 18 - 20    BIKE'S BREWS N' VIEWS FESTIVAL
It's a Beech Mountain celebration of biking and beer drinking! The weekend kicks off Friday evening with live music in the Alpine Village. Saturday, make a run for it, with our second annual hash run. Bike racing will occur throughout the day for racers and spectators. The day's activities culminate with the 4th annual beer tasting. Enjoy local and regional craft beers from 3-7pm. Also, pick your favorite beer to be represented at the Ski Resort during the 2014-2015 ski season, giving Blind Squirrel a run for their money!
